Almont, Colorado is home to some of the worlds best fly-fishing and a driver to the riverfront homesites in the area. The town of Almont is located on State Route 135 about 18 miles south of Crested Butte, and 10 miles north of Gunnison. The Taylor River and East River meet in Almont and become the Gunnison River as it flows southwest.

At the heart of Almont is Three Rivers Resort located on the Taylor River and offering rafting on the class III/IV Upper Taylor River or class I/II on the lower Taylor River, as well as guided fly fishing trips. The facility includes a restaurant, general store, cabin rentals, RV hook-ups and more.

Almont is an unincorporated town and has a U.S. Post Office in Gunnison County, Colorado. The ZIP Code of the Almont Post Office is 81210.

The town of Almont was platted in 1881 on the Fisher Ranch. Samual Fisher allegedly named the town for Almont of Kentucky, the horse that sired his favorite stallion. The Almont Post Office opened on March 6, 1882. In the late 19th century, miners in the area brought their ore to Almont, where it was transported by train to Gunnison.
